NEWS ALERT:

Frequently Asked Questions about Senate Bill 1219
Two-Year License;  Fingerprint Clearance Card;  Surrender; Cancel of License

Senate Bill 1219, sponsored by Senator Barbara Leff, was the result of the real estate Industry, the ADRE, and the Public partnering to successfully promote the passage of this bill.  It was signed into law by Governor Janice Brewer on April 2010.

The Licensing Division protects the Public by:

  • Issuing licenses to qualified persons and entities
  • Maintaining accurate licensing records
  • Striving to improve the quality of real estate pre-licensure and continuing education through review and evaluation of real estate schools, instructors and courses
  • Overseeing the administering of the Examinations
  • Encouraging the use of the Online System to research Licensees, Real Estate Schools or Developers

Licensees should know their personal responsibilities:

  • Learn your license number & expiration date
  • Ensure all your personal information is current by checking the online system which also must include a current email address
  • Make sure your continuing education is entered every two years when it is due (Effective July 29, 2010, any renewals being processed from July 1, 2010 and forward will be issued a two year license.)
  • Ensure the Legal Presence is submitted prior to being eligible to renew the license per A.R.S. §41-1080.  Once submitted it must be approved by Department personnel so do not wait until the last minute to do this
  • Brokers - make sure you have printed the license for yourself and the entity if necessary to be posted.  Ensure all licensees employed by you are current
  • Brokers - verify the action items for approvals of hires/renewals have all been done.  You have a limited time to approve them so you do not have a licensee doing unlicensed activity
